A step-by-step look at what happens when your child joins Thryvwell, and everything we do in between.
Your child's pediatrician can refer directly, or you can check eligibility here in about five minutes. We accept self-referrals and work with families via telehealth. We confirm eligibility within 3 business days and reach out to schedule the intake visit.
A 45 to 60 minute video visit with a Thryvwell clinician covers your child's health history, current medications, family goals, and whether GLP-1 therapy is appropriate. Labs are ordered through Quest or LabCorp and completed locally. No in-person visit required.
Once labs return, the physician reviews results and, if appropriate, prescribes an FDA-approved GLP-1 medication, which ships directly to your home. A registered dietitian meets with your family to build a personalized nutrition plan and coaching program tailored to your child's goals and preferences. Medication costs are separate and we help every family navigate available savings programs at the intake visit.
Every four weeks, your child has a clinical check-in to review weight, side effects, and dose adjustments. The dietitian connects with your family every two to four weeks. Your referring pediatrician receives a written clinical summary after every visit.
Thryvwell is designed to work alongside your child's existing care team, not replace it. With your permission, we keep your pediatrician fully informed after every visit.
A structured note covering visit findings, weight trends, medication status, and any clinical decisions made. Sent directly to your referring physician.
Complete lab panel with clinical interpretation. Your pediatrician sees the same data our team sees, with context for what it means for your child's care.
If something changes between visits, our clinical team reaches out to your pediatrician directly. No waiting, no information gaps.
Thryvwell is a goal-oriented program, not an open-ended subscription. Most families complete their goals in 9 to 18 months, depending on their child's clinical response and targets. When those goals are met, the program concludes, with a clear plan for what comes next.
Medication is never stopped abruptly. Your care team builds a structured tapering protocol timed to your child's progress and readiness.
Nutrition coaching and behavioral support continue through and beyond the medication phase, so your child has the tools to maintain results independently.
For patients who age out during the program, we coordinate a transition to an adult GLP-1 program or primary care provider, with a complete clinical summary and ongoing care recommendations.
Thryvwell currently works with adolescents ages 12 to 17 who meet clinical criteria for GLP-1 therapy. Our clinicians conduct a thorough evaluation to determine eligibility.
No. While many families come to us through a pediatrician referral, self-referrals are welcome. We will coordinate with your child's primary care provider with your permission.
We are currently working through the insurance credentialing process. In the meantime, we offer transparent self-pay pricing and can provide superbills for reimbursement.
GLP-1 medications are intended as a short-term bridge, not a long-term solution. Our goal is to use medication to create the window for lasting lifestyle change, then taper responsibly.
Side effect monitoring is built into every Thryvwell plan. Your care team is available between visits, and all concerns are addressed promptly with dose adjustments or clinical guidance.
